Will Bakpax work for my subject?
You can use Bakpax for any subject.
While our AI is great for short responses, it does have limitations for autograding long responses. So, here are some ideas for how you can use Bakpax in YOUR classroom. If you use Bakpax for other subjects, we’d love to hear from you at hello@bakpax.com.

Question Types
Currently, Bakpax supports four types of questions. They are Blank Question, Multiple Choice, True or False, and Draw on Image.
- Blank Question: Students are required to write a text or mathematical answer in an answer box.
- Multiple Choice: Students are provided with a list of options and must select the correct option. They can write any variation of the multiple choice option in the answer box. (For example, we would accept “b,” “B,” “b) OPTION,” and more as equivalent.)
- True or False: Students are asked to determine if the information is true or false. We will automatically include the instructions “True or false? Write below.” for these questions.
- Draw on Image: Students draw on a background such as a graph or picture. Teachers can then see the submitted image and can mark it as correct or incorrect.
Images and Work Space
For any type of question, you can add an image and/or blank work space.

English Language Arts
Here are some ideas for how you can use Bakpax if you teach English Language Arts.
Autogradable Questions for ELA:
Use Blank Question, Multiple Choice, or True or False to create autogradable questions. Below are some examples we have for how to use Blank Questions.
Vocabulary
You can use Bakpax for assignments that test students’ knowledge of vocabulary and terms. In this assignment, students identify the figurative language in passages from Romeo and Juliet.
(See full assignment here.)
Spelling
You can use Bakpax for spelling tests. Students can listen to the spoken words, spell them. Once they submit their work, they’ll receive feedback with the correct spelling, and you'll instantly see which words your students need more help with.
(See full assignment here.)
Grammar
For grammar assignments, students can fix sentences, identify parts of speech, and use conventions of proper English.

Manual Grade Questions for ELA:
Use Blank Question or Draw on Image type to create manual grade questions.
(For more information about Manual Grade questions, click here.)
While the AI cannot autograde questions that are drawings or have a variety of subjective answers (i.e. opinion, long written answer, or reflection questions), you can still include these questions in your assignments and grade them manually in Bakpax.
Diagrams
Use Draw On Image questions for charts and diagrams.
(See full assignment here.)
Free Response
Use Blank Questions for short, free-response questions.

Foreign Languages
Bakpax works for any foreign language that uses the Latin alphabet, such as Spanish, French, and German.
Autogradable Questions for Foreign Languages:
Use Blank Question, Multiple Choice, or True or False to create autogradable questions. Below are some examples we have for how to use Blank Questions.
Vocabulary
You can use Bakpax to test if students know their new vocabulary and how to use it in sentences. Give students new words or phrases and ask them to translate them and then have Bakpax grade the assignment for you.

Science
Here are some ideas for how you can use Bakpax if you teach science.
Autogradable Questions for Science:
Use Blank Question, Multiple Choice, or True or False to create autogradable questions. Below are some examples we have for how to use Blank Questions.
Vocabulary
You can use Bakpax to test if students know new vocabulary or if they can use new vocabulary in the correct context. Give students definitions, ask them to write the new words, and then have Bakpax grade the assignment for you. You could also have students use the new word in context and Bakpax will help you give them fast feedback as they submit.
(See full assignment here.)
Formulas
Bakpax can recognize mathematical notation, so it is great for testing if students know formulas or can use formulas to solve problems. Give students a problem where they have to solve for a variable or decide which formula to use. Then, the AI will automatically grade the homework submissions. (You can even grade for units!)
